Lake of the Pines is a private gated community nestled in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains 6 miles south of Lyons in Boulder County. Lake of the Pines features a very unique private lake (with a beach) and unmatched natural beauty in Boulder Colorado. Lake of the Pines is located of north of the City of Boulder just off Highway 36 at Lakeridge Trail. Allens Lake is the private lake featured in these pictures. Many of the homes along Allens Lake have their own private docks. The photographs on this page were taken during sunrise and sunset on May 4, 2015.

Photography Gear Used to Capture the Images

The camera gear used to photograph the Lake of The Pines in Boulder Colorado includes the following; a Nikon D810, a Nikkor 24-70mm, f/2.8, a Nikkor 14-24mm, f/2.8, a Gitzo Mountaineer tripod with a Really Right Stuff ball head and a Promote Remote for long exposures beyond 30 seconds. The evening exposures for the images averaged between 20 seconds and 40 seconds in length at f/11.0 to f/22.0 with camera ISO of 31. Some of images were created by combining 7 exposures at one full stop apart so that we could capture the high dynamic range of the night time scene and give the water a glassy look.
