Located below please view the Photographs of Cheesman Reservoir in Deckers Colorado. The Cheesman Reservoir is located at and elevation of 6,842 feet above the town of Deckers Colorado. You can get to the area by taking C-470 to U.S. 285 south 21 miles to Pine Junction, left onto Jefferson County 126 about 21.5 miles, then left at bottom of hill and the next right turn is Forest Service Road 211 (large parking lot on Right), follow Forest Service Road 211 about two miles to the fork in the road, take the left fork and drive another mile to the parking lot at the main entrance gate to Cheesman Reservoir. The photos of the Cheesman Reservoir located on this page were taken in the evening of May 30, 2015 (between 7-8pm) and the morning of June 6, 2105 (between 7-8am). The Cheesman Reservoir is closed between April 30th and October 1st. You may notice several of the photos depict burt trees. These trees were burned during the Hayman fire on June 8, 2002. The Hayman fire became the largest of the Colorado wildfires in the state’s recorded history. Despite the devastation the fire wrought in 2002, years later nature has begun to heal the area with new growth and beautiful lupine wildflowers (shown in the photo gallery below).
