Here you will find photos of Photos of 1945 Grumman F7F Tigercat. These in-flight photographs of the 1945 Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat were taken at the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow in Colorado Springs on September 21, 2019.
A Bit of History of the Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat
The F7F Tigercat was designed as a carrier aircraft. This twin-engine fighter was created to fly off of the decks of US Navy Midway-class aircraft carriers. The first flight was in December 1943 but the aircraft failed carrier landing tests because of low speed stability issues when operating on a single engine. This was corrected with the F7F-3 in 1945 with enlarged vertical stabilizer and rudder, but by that time the Navy preferred the Corsair and Hellcat fighters. A late variant (F7F-4N) was certified for aircraft carrier operations.
The F7F Tigercat went on to be utilized as a land-based attack fighter by the United States Marine Corps instead. The Tigercat production came too late to see action in WWII. It did see some action in the Korean War.

- F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU),

The static display photos shown here were all taken with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4.0 lens. The in-flight photos were all taken with a Gimbal and tripod set up using the 200-500mm lens. The D850 exposures for the images average between 1/80 and 1/640 of a second at f/7.1 and f/8.0. The native ISO of settings of 64 was used on the Nikon D850 and all images captured as RAW files. We also used Adobe Lightroom Classic CC to process all of these images. Since this was a sunny blue sky day with very few clouds, we used Adobe Photoshop’s new new sky replacement feature to add clouds in most of these images.
