Photos of Colorful Sunrise Over Marigold Pond Rocky Mountain National Park
Photos of Sunrise Over Marigold Pond Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado. These photos were captured on pre-dawn hike along the Flattop Mountain Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a seven plus mile hike and requires scrambling over large boulder fields in the dark. Marigold Pond is a small Alpine Tarn located close to Lake Helene as well as Two Rivers Lake. On route to the area we were greeted to a brilliant sunrise with its vibrant colors reflecting upon the still waters of Marigold Pond. Needless to say, we had to stop for a few minutes to capture this amazing sunrise and share it with you. These photos of Marigold Pond were taken on September 6, 2018 between 6:25am and 6:53am.

The photo to the right was taken just as we arrived and the sun illuminated the clouds to the east. These photos were all taken on the Gitzo CF6X Mountaineer 2 tripod. The D850 exposures for the images averaged between 1 second to 1/100 of a second at f/11. We used the D850’s native ISO of 64. Adobe Lightroom Classic CC is our editing and Digital Asset Management tool of choice. We often blend multiple RAW files into one 32 Bit HDR DNG file. A few of the photos were edited in Photoshop from multiple exposures with layered Luminosity masks. We also occasionally like to use Luminar’s AI feature to add an extra pop to some of our images.
