With a total elevation gain of 1900 feet, this hike is rated strenuous by most all Hiking and Trail websites. The views of the surrounding mountain peaks are breathtaking. While at the lake you’ll see several mountains. The mountains include 12,324-foot Flattop Mountain, 12,129-foot Notchtop Mountain, 11,586-foot Little Matterhorn, 12,331-foot Knobtop Mountain, 11,939-foot Gabletop Mountain and 11,018-foot The Gable. Fern creek flows out of Lake Odessa. These photos of Odessa Lake and the Fern Creek areas were taken on August 23, 2019 at 6:17am to 8:52am.

Gear Used to Photograph Odessa Lake and Fern Creek Rocky Mountain National Park CO

The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Odessa Lake and Fern Creek Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado:

• a Nikon Z7 with a Really Right Stuff Modular L-Bracket,
• F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU),
• a Really Right Stuff TVC-24 Mk2 Apex tripod,
• the Series 2 Leveling Base,
• with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 LR Ballhead,
• the Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4 S lens,
• and the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens.

These photos were all captured using the Z7, with the 14-30mm and 24-70mm lenses on the Really Right Stuff TVC-24 Mk2 Apex tripod. The Z7 exposures for the images averaged between 2 seconds to 1/60 of a second at f/9, f/16 and f/22. We used the Z7’s lowest ISO setting of ISO 31 as well as the native ISO setting at 64. Most of these images were captured as a single exposure however some are bracketed HDR photos and developed in Adobe Lightroom CC as DNG files.
