Lumpy Ridge RMNP God Rays of Light - RMNP CO Sunrise

Photos of Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado from Many Parks Curve

Photos of Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado from Many Parks Curve. As the colors began to warm and fade over Deer Mountain our attention was drawn to the Mummy Range. The beautiful play of rolling clouds and light over the Mummy Range made for a stunning and dramatic scene. With cameras still on our tripods, we hastily and carefully hiked a short distance in the snow to capture the spectacular vistas enfolding before us. This page includes photos of Ypsilon Mountain, The Mummy Range, McGregor Mountain and Lumpy Ridge after an overnight Spring snow. These photos taken from Trail Ridge Road and Many Parks Curve in Rocky Mountain National Park were taken between 6:03am and 7:04am on Sunday, May 10, 2019.

Gear Used to Photograph Ypsilon Mountain, Mummy Range, McGregor Mountain and Lumpy Ridge

These dramatic sunrise landscape photos were captured in the Spring of 2019 just after an evening snow storm. The following camera gear was used in the Landscape Photography of Ypsilon Mountain, the Mummy Range, McGregor Mountain and Lumpy Ridge in Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado:

  • the Nikon Z7 with a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
  • NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens,
  • a Nikon D850 with a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
  • an AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens,
  • a Really Right Stuff TVC 34L tripod,
  • with a Really Right Stuff BH-50 LR Ballhead,
  • and a F-Stop Gear Aloe Green Tilopa 50L Back Pack (with large Pro ICU).

These mid Spring photos were all taken on the Really Right Stuff tripod. Our Z7 exposures with the 24-70 S Zoom lens are 1/160 to 1/250 of a second at F/9. Our D850 exposures for the images averaged between 1/8 of a second to 1/200 of a second at f/9 and f/11.  We used the Z7’s and D850’s native ISO of 64. The closer photos of Ypsilon Mountain were shot at 102mm. All images are single exposures and fully processed in Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.
